Hours of work: 15 hours a week (Over 3 days a week)

Our head quarters is based in Erith,  London. (South East London).  Also recently expanded to our second home in Birmingham.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly flexible individual with a can do attitude, passion for youth empowerment and social justice. To play a crucial supporting role to work with young people aged 18-25 years.

  • You will assist young people who are transitioning into adulthood – starting a new phase in life that require housing needs by facilitating them into our secure accommodation. Assist young people to get into employment and also education as well as ensuring that their health and wellbeing needs are a priority. 
  •  
  • This is a front-line role as you will work with the vulnerable young people who are refugees, asylum seekers, homeless, at risk of crime and or facing multiple challenges for various reasons. 
  •  
  • You will liaise with stakeholders that include other voluntary sector organisations, statutory and private partners coordinating access to support services suitable for the young people.
  • Work one to one with individual young people. Using our youth-led model in ensuring that young people’s voice and needs is central to the decisions taken.
  • Assist in the promotion and development of social education opportunities of group-based activities.

  • Assist in coordinating day to day activities- such as making attending meetings, planning activities and any ad hoc work needed.

General

  • Maintain accurate and appropriate records of all work undertaken with service users, and produce reports as needed.
  •  
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Active Horizons: cross-referring service users, taking part in team meetings, organisational development, and being involved in Active Horizons wide events.
  •  
  • Work within Active Horizons’ policies and procedures and support the project co coordinator to review and develop service-specific policies and procedures as needed.
  •  
  • Attend regular supervision with the manager and be willing to undertake training and professional development as needed.
  •  
  • Maintain an awareness of legal and policy changes and good practice, as they affect young people and volunteers.
  •  
  • Ensure that regular communications –both verbal and written – with service users are in an accessible and appropriate format.
  •  
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team with partner organisations, to ensure the service is equally promoted and accessible to all.

You will be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, to respond proactively to any concerns. Successful applicants are required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

We are set in the heart of the community, and we are looking for an individual with creative and exciting ideas to brings them to life by delivering community events that will bring everyone together. This role sits in line with our new strategy as we are growing sustainably. We have a community hub which you are required to utilise through delivering events that help us create income as well as community cohesion. 

 As the Events Officer you will be responsible for supporting and leading on (when appropriate) the organisation by planning and execution of smooth running of but is not limited to, community events, annual calenda events, receptions, small dinners, fundraising events, and business networking events.

  • You will need to have excellent organisation skills and experience of planning and delivering projects is essential. 
  •  
  • The ideal candidate will have a good level of proven experience of working in a busy environment. 
  •  
  • This is a front facing role which you will liaise with members of the community, stakeholders such as sponsors, business partners and  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required, and prior knowledge of events and facilities management is desirable.
  •  
  • To be successful in this role you will need to be organised, have acute attention to detail and have the ability to multitask.
  •  
  • A good understanding of the event market and trends.
  •  
  • You will work with the Chief Executive Officer as well as the staff team and volunteers.

BA (HONS) Youth Work Apprenticeship Degree

For the first time ever, we are excited to offer BA (HONS) Youth Work Apprenticeship, a ground-breaking course studying at University of East London.
